Xufugubian(續復古編),written by Caoben(曹本)of Yuan(元)Dynasty,is a book to broaden Fugubian(複古編).It includes thirteen parts and has many verifying characters.The basic purpose of this book is verifying characters and standardizing script.Owing to the the author's conservative thought,the study on this book is a few and it is only mentioned for several times in the correlative literature of Chinese characters philology. However,the other meanings mentioned in this book is particular very important and have much research value.There are four parts in the dissertation:Firstly,The dissertation introduces information of Xufugubian(續復古編),such as,the author,the edition,and the research condition of verifying characters of the book.We also discusses the style,terminology of Xufugubian(續復古編)and the circulation of this kind of book.Secondly,basing on the comparison of meaning mentioned in Xufugubian(續復古編)with that in Chinese Dictionary,we can makeup some deficiencies of Chinese Dictionary and reveal the evolution of Chinese meaning clearly.At the same time,it involves the derivation of some vocabularies,the reason of some vocabularies name and the example of some vocabularies firstly used.Through our research we can exhibit the evolution of Chinese meaning,which can provide materials to the dictionary compiling.Thirdly,we check the different scripts of Shuowenjiezi(說文解字),quoted by Xufugubian(續復古編), find some can correct the false of Shuowenjiezi(說文解字),some should be discussed further,and some are false quoted by Caoben(曹本).The dissertation describs these problems in detailed.In the last part,we point out the drawbacks of Xufugubian(續復古編).For example,the lacking of open attitude of authors,some errors in the commentaries,and so on.The purpose of this dissertation is to give an objective analysis about Xufugubian(續復古編)and provide some useful reference to the user.
