The Comparative Study On Variant Forms Of Chinese Characters Between Xinhua Dictionary And Modern Chinese Dictionary

Xinhua Dictionary（《新华字典》） and Modern Chinese Dictionary（《现代汉语词典》）are the two most popular dictionaries used in China. They have great influence in Chinesesociety so they have high value of study Linguistics. With the Variant Forms of Chinesecharacters in Xinhua Dictionary which was published in2011and in Modern ChineseDictionary which was published in2010as the objects, we attempt to check and examinethem exhaustly, satisics the number of them, make qualitative and quantitative analysis, andgive static description in detail. With this description, we find the differences between thesetwo dictionaries. We sort and analysis these differences with authoritative dictionaries such asChinses dictionary as well as the Dictinary of Variant Forms of Chinese characters and soon, especially some dictionaries with long history.From this analysis we may find out howthese tow dictionaries deal with the variant forms of Chinese characters. Also,we findsomething in this two dictionaries which should be discussed.We do our best to do someefforts to the work of arranging the variant forms of Chinese characters in China,and to thecomposing of these two dictionaries. The first part of the thesis introduces the studying targetof the thesis,the present situation of our research,and the ways how to do our research. Thesecond part of the thesis compares the two dictionary from the notes on the use of a bookabout variant forms of Chinese charaeters,variant forms of Chinese charaeters collection andthe way how to deal with the relationship between the characters and it`s variant form.Atlast,we make a conclusion.The two dictionaries are edited for different people and havingdifferences in size.So the editors`mind are different.From our studying,we find that there aremany differences between the two dictionaries in dealing with variant forms of Chinesecharaeters.The target we make out the differences for is to diminish the differences.We dosome efforts to have the work of arrangging the variant forms of Chinese charaeters get muchbetter and make the using of characters and the dictionaries be more convenient and standard.
