The jollification of movie has driven movie magazines becoming prosperous. Movie magazines recorded how movie developed, and also participated in the course that movie developed with various ways, displaying movie inside and outside. Movie annotates society, theory annotates movie, and movie magazine exactly is common carrier of both. Besides, some new movie phenomenon manifesting continually, movie workers taking actions, movie theoreticians expressing opinions, all these make movie magazines, especially movie academic magazines become an integrated text. Movie magazines exert an important effect in movie study. In recent years, magazine study is becoming more and more prevalent, and my dissertation makes movie academic magazine Contemporary Cinema which started publication in 1984 as an object, expecting having a good trial in this field.The main object of my dissertation is the theory visual angle in Contemporary Cinema, including fundamental theory of movie, movie criticism, movie history and other information related. As a media text, the main methods I use are content analysis and semeiology analysis. The dissertation tries to study movie developing course by reviewing information in Contemporary Cinema and makes a comment on editors' work. When drawing the stage of Chinese movie theory, periodization is the primary method. When discussing the developing trend of Chinese movie, Neo-historianism is used as the main viewpoint.Contemporary Cinema started publication when China in the course of reform and opening. My article believes that this magazine plays the active role in movie theory's introduction, explanation, discussion, and construction. During more than 20 years, Contemporary Cinema's editors has always considered full about the movie theory and the times demand's close relation, manifested the multivariate trend of movie development. To a certain extent, the changing theory visual angle of Contemporary Cinema also reflects the development process of Contemporary China movie theory.
