Yunnan Lahu Dress Art Visual Symbols Study

Yunnan province is located within the Southwest of China and it is a beautiful and wonderful land.There are many nationalities who inhabit the Yunnan Province. The people of ethnic origin are industrious and brave,they create the abundant culture and the traditional costume is a pearl of that.It is a very important part of Chinese clothing culture.This essay is based on the Lahu costume art,Lahu people,one of the minority, unique in Yunnan,with small population,living in mountains on the border,home to the little-known,research data is extremely limited.This paper is the research of the Lahu costume's visual arts Dress symbol semantics,vocabulary,language structure, Pragmatic and Context with the application of semiotics.Semiotics is a very wide application of the basic disciplines,but it is the first time of its kind that Semiotics is put into to the study of the Lahu costume art.Firstly,the essay Based on the analysis to limited information,and think that there three inadequates in the research fields:1,the research on Lahu costumes is not formed a complete system;2,they study Lahu costumes isn't in-depth study,just on the surface,and no one study them from the viewpoint of their vocabulary,syntax, semantics,pragmatics,and context and they can't understand its potential meaning;3,they can't point the direction of the future of Lahu costumes.Based on the above solution,and established the framework for this essay:1.Firstly,the two Lahu Ashkenazi costumes visual symbols are analyzed,they can be divided into caps,costumes,observe,accessories,making process and so on. Having formed a fairly complete structure of the framework.2.Study the two Lahu Ashkenazi costumes from viewpoint of the semiotics,its symbol vocabulary,syntax,semantics,pragmatics,and context included.And explain its potential meaning with examples.3.The three proposals to the Lahu Dress for the inheritance and development of:(1)The sense of identity of Lahu people is strengthen by dress;(2)The national cohesion and national pride is strengthen by dress;(3)Make the Lahu costumes modernize with the Lahu dress visual art symbols, Make the Lahu costumes be inherited and developed by applying.Through the analyses of semantics,vocabulary,language structure,Pragmatic and context of Yunnan Lahu costumes,concludes are got:Yunnan Lahu costumes is the product of specific geography,history,socio-economic factors.The three proposals to the Lahu Dress for the inheritance and development.And point to that the design of Lahu costumes is colorful,they are good source for modern costume designer.At the same time,in the writing process,a large number of different cities, counties,townships,Lahu village of the national dress design patterns are drawed, based on a lot of field survey(see Appendix color pages).Studying Yunnan Lahu dress visual arts symbols with the theory of semiotics is helpful not only to broaden the application of semiotics field,but also to help people learn the Lahu clothing art,Inherit and protect national cultural heritage.And Lahu dress symbol of the visual arts have a certain design inspiration and reference for modern clothing designer.
