On Derrida's Deconstruction Of The Status Of Translators In The Translation Theory

Derrida who was the pioneer of Deconstruction theory brought his thoughts into translation theory. Derrida's deconstruction theory of translation is an important part of his whole philosophy, which hasn't been attached enough importance in the translation field. At first, this paper introduces and analyzes briefly the origin of his translation theory as well as his main thoughts in his works, then putting forward that the issue of translator's status is the core of his translation theory, and discussing translator's subjectivity from two aspects, translator's subjective initiative and restrictions to translator's subjectivity. Derrida emphasized the translator's subjectivity, but he didn't totally abandon the intention of the original writer. The translator and the original writer are in the equal status. The original writer plays the role as the enclosure. On the one hand the translator can fully develop his subjectivity; on the other hand he is limited to the enclosure of the original writer. In the meantime this paper also analyses the influence of Derrida's translation theory on other translation schools. At last Derrida's deconstruction of linguistics translation theory illustrates that deconstruction is not his ultimate aim, but to construct pluralism translation. From the perspective of philosophy, Derrida directed the theory and practice of translation with the creative and unsatisfactory spirit.
