Cultural Identity In The Process Of Regional Integration

It was witnessed by all the pace of development of regional integration since 1990s. Regional integration has been the most far-reaching impact of a great movement of exploration and practice since the nation and the country of human society were produced, which brought economic and political interests to all nationals. But with the further development of regional integration and the end of the Cold War, Functionalism shows the more and more obvious defect, in which circumstances some scholars proposed promotion of the development of regional integration in the perspective of cultural identity, because integration itself is a process of identification & construction. On the basis of the Constructivism theory, this dissertation just discusses the function of cultural identity in promoting regional integration , and proposes how to construct a cultural identity in order to promote the development of regional integration.Generally speaking, the paper is mainly divided into four parts:The first chapter is exordium of the whole dissertation, firstly, which expounds the background of the study and the theoretical &practical significance; then synthesizes and summarizes the studies of domestic and foreign scholars on cultural identity and regional integration; for the last, points out main mentality of the dissertation, rationale, focal, difficult and innovating spots.Chapter two discusses the significance of developmental of regional integration to all countries , expounds the history of regional organizations'development and concludes it development trend; then, analyzes the difficulties and challenges ,to which regional integration organizations faced during their developing; and proposes ideas promoting the development of regional integration in perspective of cultural identity.Chapter three explains relevant concepts and classification of cultural identity; analyzes the function of cultural identity on the basis of the Marxism'Organic whole theory and Constructivism theory. At last points out that cultural identity has the effect on regional integration is Cohesion: Attributive cultural identity is cohesion, Responsive cultural identity is propellant force, Functional cultural identity is drive for regional integration developing.Chapter four discusses how to construct cultural identity. Firstly, strengthen further Attributive cultural identity. Secondly, develops vigorously Responsive cultural identity. Thirdly, constructs actively Functional cultural identity. While, there is certain difficulty during the process of constructing cultural identity.Chapter five is the dissertation's concluding remarks, by studying the role of cultural identity in the development of regional integration ,which point out the problems deserving of attention that stressing the role of cultural identity is not ignoring economic and political of the role in the development of regional integration, but strengthening the cultural identity of the study and discussion because of people ignoring it in the past .And , China ,as a big regional country, should be responsible for where it is.
