| Our thesis begins with the comparison between the art in China and western countries. We have tried to avoid merely talking in generalities about Cezanne and Dong Qichang, both their lives and works, but wished to initiate a deep analysis into the origins, differences and similarity of their arts. From these factors, we will put in mind of some rules of art creations and developing an idea for modern art creations.Through the comprehend analysis and comparisons between Cezanne and Dong Qichang, we learn the different conditions of art creations in China and western countries; we learn about the close relationships of the spirit yearning, the emotion and the transformation of style; we learn about the choices and creations of art in practice; we learn that all of these are topical. We come to such a conclusion that art needs to be created on and on. Only by new creations could art follow or lead the times; creation could never be departed from traditions, but traditions should not limit creation. Only by seeking the breakthrough on the traditional foundation the creation could be more profound and impressive. The artists should find out the character of art in their hearts and hold the point of national art and develop it.Our thesis is mainly based on the comparison of extroversive between Cezanne and Dong Qichang—"Shigu"(follow the masters in the past),"Shizaohua"(follow the nature) and the comparison of introversive between Cezanne and Dong Qichang—"Shi Xin"(follow the heart). Cezanne and Dong Qichang are the leaders of their culture. Our thesis illustrates their accedence and development of traditions and classicals, the relationship between human and nature, and the opinions to nature in hearts. In "Shijiaohua" (follow the nature; because in western countries there is no such a word, we add quotation mark to distinguish and in the same time to unite the titles of the three chapters) chapter we explain the familiarities of the structures and the flat in the works of the two masters. |
