Observation Of Life

Drama Director is a subject with strong specialty. The students of this major should master the general regulation of directing creation and the construction of directing thoughts during the four-year-study of college. However, the study of directing is very extensively, too. When a director tries to describe good works, he should be full of effectiveness and imagination. While the audience try to understand the director by his presentation, which is the thoughts and feelings of the works'interpreter. Besides the long-time work experiences, the quality of the director is also the key to success, for example, the comprehension of the works, the discovery of surroundings, penetrating into the motivation of the social people's activity and the different creation after knowledge accumulation.The students in Directing Department have changed a great lot now. Most of the freshmen have no experience of art work. Some of them even have never watched stage drama formally. Though the ability of accepting new things and the knowledge of the modern society have become their characteristics, the strong self-consciousness, curiosity easily being satisfied, the unclearness of values and attitudes are also their characteristics. The author will use large parts of this essay, from the teaching practice combined with personal teaching experience and the representative works of the class, to discuss the difficulties and solution of the students'creation, especially the low-grade ones'. The author will make suggestions on"observing"how to start teaching from easy to difficult, how to abstract and create life, the significant effect on personal cultivation of observing habit."Observation", as the basic essence of art, is clearly demanded in Directing Teaching. Though we have no special"observing life exercises"phase,observing life carefully and exactly is the base of art creation for students. The ability of observation is the precondition of student's growing up. Directing Teaching is not to propose the necessity of the observing for a special period, but the more important is to ask students to get used to observing life as a professional instinct through strict syllabus."Life is the source of arts", the comprehension of life must come from the observing t life."Observation"is the threshold of all arts, especially for drama director.
