Bertolt Brecht's theories of Epic Theatre have a great impact on Friedrich D端rrenmatt and Max Frisch. Though D端rrenmatt and Frisch don't totally accept Bertolt Brecht's theories of Epic Theatre, they all pay homage to the theory of alienation and carry out their own methods of alienation. This thesis researches different theatre concepts of these three dramatists to have a knowledge of the relation between their background of ideology and artistic style. Through the analysis of their famous works, this thesis compares three different methods of alienation in character, plot and structure. At last, summarize their characteristic methods of alienation and discuss the great influence of alienation theory on the playwriting.
