Job burnout is the psychological and physical expression of job stress and frustration, which often happens in professions with caring nature.Research on this phenomenon began since the 1970s in western academic field.But in China,it is still a new field which needs further exploration.The present study,combing qualitative and quantitative research methods,investigates thirty-one female university EFL teachers in English departments in Qingdao area.Data collection is conducted through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews.This study attempts to explore the actual situation of job burnout among female EFL teachers in Qingdao area.It centers around three dimensions concerning a general study on the current burnout situation,the contributing factors and the possible measures helpful to EFL teachers.The findings of the research are:1) The burnout status of female EFL teachers in the universities in Qingdao is not very obvious.2) There is no significant correlation among the dimensions of burnout and the demographic features in the sample. 3) Academic pressure is the most common and greatest pressure source.
