In post-colonial cultural context, speaking of Hong Kong, it always comes with ethical and cultural identity problems. Having been under the colonial rule of England for more than 150 years, Hong Kong people are neither Chinese nor English—they are Hong Kongers. Hong Kong culture is sometimes called "rootless culture", especially in its social transitional period, and by social transitional period, I refer to the time from the signing of Sino-British Joint Declaration to Hong Kong's return to China. As one of the most important movie genre—comedy, Stephen Chow and his WuLiTou movies was very popular at the time. To some extent, WuLiTou culture represents Hong Kongers' collective-subconscious during the period.
