In this paper,After the analysis of several wrong sentences made by overseas students, the concern of this research is unfolded—the NP after"bei". In this paper, the author does research into and summarrize the studies on the bei-construction and the NP after"bei", Meanwhile, the author analyzes about one thousand sources in eleven contemporary and modern literature works. Based on the former studies and the author's analyses on sources, the semantic and syntactic conditions for the NP after"bei"are concluded as follows: when the NP after"bei"must be used; when the NP after"bei"cannot be used; and when the usage of the NP after"bei"can be optional. knowing the semantic and syntactic conditions for the NP after"bei"is the reason why the overseas students tend to made mistakes whiling making sentences.On the basis of the semantic and syntactic conditions, a survey is carried out among the overseas students of primary, medium and advanced level. The condition when the NP after"bei"must be used and the condition when the NP after"bei"cannot be used are the major concern of the survey. The practice of eleven kinds of types are carefully surveyed—agental case,insrumental case,reason of agental case,experimental case,"bei……gei","bei……suo","bei……yi", fixed format, Prepositions structure, bei+the Monosyllabic + Verb,Verb add zhe or qilai. In the survey, four test approaches are employed– multiple choices, error correction, phrases matching and description on pictures, so as to survey the practice of the eleven types in different levels of overseas students. In the end, based on the survey statistics, proposals and suggestions on the teaching of overseas students is put forward. |
