Maid Image Of China In The 1930s Novel

From "May Fourth",accompany with the rise of "the person's literature"current of thought, the modern literature harbingers start to throw vision to vast social reality and the person's destiny, change direction to write a person, especially write common, ordinary of person, write the life of social lower person. And the social lower maidservants also begin to be engaged in the novels as leading roles, such as Xiang Lin's wife who appears in the novel of《bless》wrriten by Lu Xun. To the thirty period,along with the booming rise of household novels , the novelists pay more attention to the female labor of social lower floor,and the maidservant images who are sold or employed start to be wrriten by more and more novelists. These maidservant images who are wrriten by the novelists of thirty period, are similar to the maidservant images engaged in the classic literature and "May Fourth" literature at certain degree,such as identity position,existence appearance,personality characteristic and the spirit feature,but they also have differences because they are produced in the early twenty centuries which is so complex. Through the total research on maidservant image in thirty period's novel, we can understand more about the maidservant of this first floor crowd,and we also can know more about complicated social life in the early twenty centuries. This text mainly is based on novel text,relating to the knowledge of sociology and typical model individual case,and plans to carry on a total investigation on the female image.This thesis sets out from the work,absorbing the research result of past researchers, and divides the maidservant images into three types: the young maidservant image who has no freedom, the married maidservant image who is free,other abnormal maidservant image,according to the relationship between the maidservant and their host,the close by characteristic of their age, identity, and so on. Certainly this is just artificial cent method, the young maidservant images who are free also appear in the novel of thirty period, but their amount is so little and not typical that we will not list them lonely.The full text is totally divided into three parts:The first part is mainly based on the household novel text, combining with other rticle novel which is mainly about young maidservants,first analyzed the causes why this kind of maidservant images appear. And then at the foundation of detailly analyzing text,we think that the young maidservant image of thirty period's novel can be mainly divided into two types according to the their thought and personal characteristics:the type of person who knows its place and the type of person who is awake and begin to resist. Again we compare them withthe young maidservant images of《Red Chamber Dream》,then abtain their basic characteristic:incline to a civilian turning from "nobility", the show of characteristics of "beautiful and kind" ,the diversification of final destiny. The second part is mainly based on the maidservant images who are employed in the novel texts and combines with other successful novel texts which write about the maidservant images in the meantime. For the first time, we analyzed the causes why this kind of maidservant images appear, then divided them into two communities to investigate:common women servant images who sell labor force and young wet nurse images who sell human milk. At the meantime,we carried on meticulous analysis on women servant images who have representative meaning. Then we carried on a comparison with "May Fourth" women servant images in the novels, and generalized their basic characteristics: humble and poor "unknown" identity, the weak destiny of sad bitterness, the great maternal love ofbeing unselfish or having no myself.The third part mainly reviews and analyzes three abnormal kinds of maidservant images who have typical meaning—"slavery assistant wives"," wives of being sold","the kids who are daughters-in-law". Although these three types of female images superficially own the honor and duties of "assistant wife","wife" and "daughter-in-law",actually they are just labors or tools of growing. They are "abnormal sons" who are born in feudalism socity,their substantial contents of life and humble degree are similar to "maidservant".
