Verb Direction Classification And Explanation

The paper which is based on the embodied philosoghy has constructed a directional classification system of the modern Chinese verbs under the framework of the metaphor theory and the imagery schemas theory.And based on the prototype theory this paper has also analyzed the viewpoint that this directional classification system is a category unit with a vague border and a changing typicality.In order to prove the effectiveness of the classification system,this paper adopts the distributive analysis method to verify all the directional categories mentioned in chapter two.After that,utilizing the achievement in chapter two and chapter three,this paper has discussed and explained some language phenomenen related to the verb direction,these language phenomenen involve:directional congruence on the collocation of the movement verb and its combine compositions,the directional controlling force on the collocation of the movement verb and the direction verb,the disappearing expression of the verb direction.
