Cao Zhi, the famous writer in the Three Kingdoms era of Wei, was a notedrepresentative of Jian’an literature. He was intelligent, agile Evans, and won theappreciation of Cao Cao. But he died when he was still young, Cao Zhi’s life was full ofglory, his exceptional literary talent constructed his glory, however, his career in politicsespecially was bumpy. His literary talent and the fate full of tragedy has been attracted bymany scholars and researchers, especially the study on the reason of Cao Zhi’s tragic fatewhich once became a hot research topic. But many scholars have different perspectives, there are two main views: some people believe that Cao Zhi’s personality was the root ofhis tragic fate, but some people think that his failure with Cao Pi for the the crown princewas the root of cause. But if this topic is up to further scrutiny, we can draw the deepercause. So this paper will try to continue to study on the basis of previous studies, and it ismainly from three aspects: firstly, the influences from Cao Cao, Cao Pi, Cao Rui andsupporters around Cao Zhi; secondly, it analyzes the characters of Cao Zhi; thirdly, theanalysis of classification of each period of Cao Zhi’s works. Paper products reflect theauthor’s personality and work is the author’s endorsement. It’s the author’s true feelings ofthe heart, the natural expression of emotions and the thought to emerge. The ideologicalsystem of Cao Zhi intertwined with Confucianism and Taoism. Through the study ofideological track of Cao Zhi, we can more clearly find the deep reasons of Cao Zhi’s tragicfate then. After the argument against the tragedy and failure for the crown prince with Caopi, which is not the root cause, the paper ultimately draws the point of view: as a scholar,Cao Zhi was eager to build up establishment, and he had ambitious exhibition. But thecontradiction between ideal and reality could not be reconciled, which caused his immensemental suffering. In other words, it is for the contradictions between the pursuit for dreamsand the failure of it in reality, namely the duality of tragedy of cultural personality, whichreveals the root of Cao Zhi’s tragic fate.
