Translation is playing an important role in China's global communication and the promotion of Chinese as an international language. By selecting the translation of Chinese-featured words in the global communication as the research target, this thesis is intended to explore the similarities and differences between"communication"and"propaganda"as well as the"direct audience"and"indirect audience", thus distinguishing the specific features of translation for global communication from those of the translation for general purposes. This thesis tries to combine the assessment of translation strategies with the Google search item numbers and the adoption by major English medias. By collecting, summarizing and analyzing the Chinese-featured words in the Culture Column of Beijing Review in 2007, this thesis applies the theory of phonetic acquisition in second language acquisition and refers to the translation strategy of English-featured words into Chinese, in an effort to prove that the combination of transliteration and explanatory translation strategy will be one of the major translation strategies in future, and that target audience will have a good command of both the phonetics and the cultural connotation of the Chinese-featured words in the process of reading global communication materials from China.
