As a local yangko opera originated in Hebei province, LongYao yangko opera has been very popular and developed among people, who enjoy it very much, especially numerous peasants in southern Hebei. If we look it back into history, there are many folk sayings about this opera among those peasants that could be found. As society develops, there are many entertainments for choices. And the leading position of yangko in local's entertainments has disappeared given that people posit their attention to other entertainments. In this dissertation, the development and change of yanko opera will be threaded in the full text and the methodologies of case, history and text analysis will be applied. It is hoped that, on the one hand, the law of yangko could be derived through the retrospection of the origin, development and prosperous period, fading and on the very of disappearing of yangko, on the other, the way of revitalizing and seeking the sustainable development of yangko could be generated and the effective localized strategies of protecting national non-material cultural heritage will be found a way out with the guidance of the three hundred year's yangko development and under the circumstance of the rising attention of intangible cultural heritage protection and the selections of Longyao yanko into the list of national intangible cultural heritage protection.The main content includes introduction and four chapters :The introduction consists of the reasons of the research topic, research methodologies, state of the art and relevant definitions. The first chapter mainly provides the audiences with the natural and human conditions of the local areas that LongYao yanko originated in and the three significances of Longyao yanko as a local opera. The second chapter introduces the inheritance of Yanko opera such as the inheritance of yanko artisans, the art contribution to yanko opera, the interaction between audiences and yanko, etc. The third chapter discusses the text succession of yanko comprising names of yanko opera's performance, analysis of script and the characteristics of opera literature. The fourth chapter probes into the function of intangible cultural heritage protection into the inheritance of yanko opera. Because of the unsatisfactory condition of yanko protection, the appropriate strategies should be searched based upon the inheritance of yanko so as to enhance the protection of yanko under the fully participation of all parts. The conclusion talks about cultural transition leading to nearly extinction of yanko. It is a universal condition and should be focused by national intangible cultural protection, the purpose of which is to step yanko away from extinction by the way of cultivating people's cultural consciousness.
