On The Artistic Characteristics Of Goethe To Music Poems

During the 1700s and 1800s,the genre of art song in Germany and Austria has developped fruitfully.The applying of poems as the song lyrics is one important factor of the achievement of art song.While there are numerous researches doing on art song melody,this dissertation tries doing research on the lyrics:the poems.This research only involoves the great poet Geothe's poems that being composed by composers.We must pay attention to the context of the poems when we doing research on the text of art songs,therefore the thesis outlines the different background of the composed-poem at different time.And all Goethe'composed-poems are classified into three parts at the beginning of the thesis.The principal part is the third chapter,in which the characteristics of Goethe's composed-poems are discussed form three aspects:the musical,ideological and practical nature of the poems.Firstly,the musicality of the poem helps us to realize why they are beloved by the composers.Secondly,the wonderful combination of profound idea and artistic poem in Goethe's composed-poem is just what the lyric writer must learn from.Thirdly,the discuss on the practic nature of Goethe's poem is to enlight the lryic writer to write from the real life.Generally,we study the past in order to serve the present and we do reseach on foreign things to serve China.By discussing the characterisctis of Geothe's poem in the three chapters, the author at last focus on the reality of Chinese art songs lyric writing,and point out that lyric writer can learn much from Goethe's poems.
