Higher education is increasingly popular in recent years. College music education played an important role in improving the overall quality of college students and enhancing the humanistic quality of the community. It is a basic means of aesthetic education for university students and also a crucial way of to make music education more popular. Among music education programs, music appreciation course is one of the effective methods of arts education. Therefore, the research on the situation of the public music appreciation class in universities is of great significance.Under the guide of the documents from the Ministry of National Education, National School Arts Education Master Plan and The Views of Popularization of the Arts Education at Universities, and based on our country's modern development of music education college experience, this thesis chooses six typical and representative universities in Shanxi Province and analyzes the current situation of the practice of the music appreciation course. It conducts surveys and data collections about the teaching objectives, the teaching content and curriculum of the music appreciation class. After the procession of the data, the author uses comparative study method to analyze the actual existence of the questions profoundly. By finding similarities from the study of the particular cases, the author tries to explore some music teaching strategies, methods and models combined with local characteristics, so as to promote the development of music education.
