Art Songs Of The Characteristics Of Late Debussy

As one of the composers who played important roles in bridging the music of 19th and 20th century,Claude Achille Debussy shouldered the historical responsibility to make breakthrough date back from late romanticism period to 'new' music in 20th century.Artistic melody is an important part of Debussy' s works.Revolving around analysis of Debussy' s representative artistic melodies in his late years,namely,Le Promenoir des deux amants for voce and piano, Po(?)mes de St(?)phane Mallarm(?) for voice and piano and Noel des enfants qui n'ont plus de maison.The paper discussed the following aspects:1) characteristic of Debussy' s composition as well as innovation and breakthrough he achieved in composing skills during his late years.2) Connection between these artistic melodies and impressionism drawing and symbolism poetry;and 3) finally,position of these melodies in Debussy' s music.This paper consists of four parts.The first part is the introduction of all Debussy' s life and his works.As a composer with decent cultivation in literature,Debussy' s composition was constantly in close touch with nobility culture at his time as well as advanced intellect of capitalist class in France.In the meantime,Debussy paid close attention to ancient music in France history ranging from the music of medieval time to baroque time,which enriched Debussy' s composition with multiple savors.The second part introduces Debussy' s works in artistic melody,starting from Beau soir and Mandoline in his early years to Po(?)mes de Baudelaire for voice and piano and Proses lyriques for voice and piano in his middle years and Le Promenoir des deux amants for voce and piano and Po(?)mes de St(?) phane Mallarm(?) for voice and piano in his late years.Artistic melody penetrated Debussy' s composition life and reflected changes in the characteristics of his composition and innovation in his composing skills.The third part is an elaboration of the three artistic melodies in Debussy' s late life.Starting from the form of music,this part analyzes not only the Debussy' s method in developing music materials but also the characteristics of connection between melody and poetry in his works.The forth part is the culmination of this paper.This part summarizes the characteristic of Debussy' s works in his late years from two respects,which are the overall characteristic and partial characteristics.This part ends up with the enlightenment to compositions of nowadays music that we could derive from this research of Debussy' s artistic melodies in his late years.
