External Space Of The Traditional Villages Of The Mountain Area Of ​​southern Characterized

The Chinese traditional hamlets own unique and lively charms because of their variety resulted from their different geographic locations. The yards, as the conspicuous representation of the outside space of a hamlet, influences the foresaid variety a lot. Taking the traditional hamlets in southern mountain area of Zhejiang as examples, this paper discusses carefully about the origination, development and function of the yards during the thousand years, especially the affirmative meaning, domanial characteristics and penetrative impacts of the yards showed upon the organization of human activity in respect of the outside space of a hamlet, which is analyzed and demonstrated by design cases to reflect the important status of the yard in a hamlet dominating the sustainable development of the traditional hamlet.In a word, this paper studies the outside space of a hamlet from the external configuration and internal connation of the yard, states that the yard is a main factor for the reform of the outside space of a hamlet and aims to give helpful information for the sustainable development of traditional hamlets.
