| It is drawing more and more attention from scholars in linguistica area that to study news reporting from the point view of linguistics. To study news reports from the linguistic point of view is increasingly attracting the attention of the schalors. They, however, focused mostly on the dissemination of news reports discourse function, rhetoric effect, the characteristics of narrative discourse, but little on discourse structure of the description and interpretation.The structure model and discourse strategy of news reports discourse are analyzed with system-functionnal theory and discourse analysis theory, exploring that the news reports focus on the way of discourse coherence and cohesion to sum up the universals and individuality of news reports discourse in news writing, thus , making great efforts for the theory and research of news reports analysis.Taking an overview of research in the field of linguistic, traditional linguistics research pay more attention to the sentence itself and what these sentences constitute. Papers and monographs which using discourse theory to analyze news reports are few. this discourse research from the perspective of news reports is a new attempt. It is theoretically and practically significant that news reports are analyzed with system-functional theory and discourse theory.Some scholars expect that linguistic research focus on static then to dynamic gradually sentence then to discourse. Discourse research,like marathon race on scale by several generations, make a revolution in this field. In this paper,discourse analysis to news reports are made from the following aspects :macro-structure, discourse strategy,coherence and cohesion.Texts of news reporting do have relatively stable text patterns. The strategies which is usually implemented to embody the structure of macroscopical relation of news reporting text is mainly studied in this thesis. News of reversal pyramid pattern appears most freguently in the newspapers. Generally, this kind of mews adopts hierachal stratedies of level relation, and it is used very often by reporters. Annalistic style news adopt the discourse strategies of sequence relation as same as words of time. This kind of news deals with those events related to the nation and people, and important events which are interested by most readers. In general, the discourse stratedies often adopted by new text of profile, introduction to new objects, introduction to a certain region (a country, city, place of historical interest, and so on, for example) are that the key words as clues running through the whole text. News texts seldom adopt discourse strategies of interlink relation and parallel relation, which is determined by the special requirements of context of the news reporting style, and the unique manner of reflecting the object. In order to realize the consistency, some unique connection methods are often used in news text in addition to those common ones, for example, source words of news, timing words, statistical figures, verbs of area within a jurisdiction. However, some connection methods are seldom used, like scene and notion of demotational semantics, omition, cooccurence of antonym and complementary words.In the Chapter six, the directivity of news text is discussed briefly. At the end, I summarize the dissertation. |
