Acceptance. Richards In Research

I. A. Richards is the important theorist and literary critic in England whose critical theory has great influence on European and American literature especially new critics. However, along with the fading of new critical theory, Richards'psychological scientific analysis and semantic analysis had been dismissed for a long time. Based on this, the paper tries to hackle the domestic acceptance situation and appreciation of cross-cultural works in accordance with Richards'theory works and establish correct cognitive attitude to former works'essence as well as summary the starting point and extend direction of later poetic critic theory which provide available theory thinking perspective of cultural Inheritance and Innovation.The paper is divided into four parts which deeply illustrates the problems such as the influence on Chinese literature cycle by Richards'literature critic theory and practice. Firstly, the author describes Richards'main theory. Secondly, the author hackles Chinese works and poems'acceptance situation to Richards'theory works from1920s to 1970s. This part is divided into two aspects, the one is about the influence on the poet-JIUYE of 1940s, and the other is about the influence on misty poetry. Thirdly, the author summarizes the work Mencius on the Mind: Experiments in Multiple Definition and its related comments under the perspective of cross-culture. Observing the thinking differences between Chinese and Western Cultures, the author also evaluates the history value of cross-cultural interpretation. Besides, starting from the relationship between modern science and poem, the author explains the existing value of Richards' theory by combing Chinese poem situation. Conclusion: the author summarizes each chapter and sums up the significance and value of work hackling. In a word, based on the diachronic perspective, the author analysis's and reconsiders the acceptance phenomenon of Richards'new critic theory to Chinese in order to review and exploit the luminous point of obsolescent works and provide much more comprehensive and objective theory basis for the development of Chinese works.
