A Study Of Literary Works Published By Current Affairs Pictorial

Among the many pictorial newspapers in the late Qing Dynasty,Pan Dawei,Gao Jianfu and He Jianshi founded the current affairs pictorial in Guangzhou with the most radical style.Current Affairs Pictorial was first published in Guangzhou in September 1905.It is the first lithographic pictorial in Guangdong."Current Affairs Pictorial" was founded at the time of the rise of the anti-American rejection movement,in essence,it was an organ newspaper supported and founded by the revolutionaries.In addition to inheriting the characteristics of Dianshi Zhai Pictorial in describing current affairs with images,Current Affairs Pictorial also publishes a large number of literary works with illustrations,which improves the literary attributes of Pictorial and realizes the integration of language and picture.Pictorial newspaper as a medium,through the improvement of traditional style,realizes the social function of literature,plays the role of criticizing the current disadvantages,disseminating new knowledge and advocating revolution.This paper takes Current Affairs Pictorial as the research object,which is divided into five chapters.Chapter one investigates the process of running a newspaper of Current Affairs Pictorial,and tries to analyze the reasons why it started,stopped,resumed and finalized from the perspective of "the government's ban on nongovernmental newspaper-running activities".It also investigates the multiple identities of its main members and gives a brief overview of Current Affairs Pictorial.Chapters two to four are the key parts of this paper,from "Pictorial Literature".From the point of view,through sorting out and counting the literary works published in Current Affairs Pictorial,and investigating the essays,novels,rap and singing literature respectively,this paper tries to sort out how the revolutionary journalists transform the content and form of the traditional Chinese literary style in the Pictorial medium from the perspective of literary history,so as to achieve the Enlightenment of publicizing "revolution" and "new knowledge" by the newspaper runners.The fifth chapter focuses on the value and influence of Current Affairs Pictorial.By comparing with Dianshi Pictorial,the ancestor of Pictorial,the regional characteristics and literary value of Dianshi Pictorial are highlighted.
