| In the informative age, news has become an important part of our daily lives. In academic circle, news has been a popular topic studied by linguistics as special texts. The investigations show that wide and distinctive researches about news have been done in many fields concerning news. But few studies on the rhetoric of news can be seen now. Although news writing itself is unlike the literary works, rhetorical devices in news writing can still be witnessed. This thesis, on the basis of integrating the former achievements, mainly analyses the rhetoric phenomena in news texts from broad sense by analyzing the detailed English news texts. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the rhetoric of news texts from a cognitive perspective, and uncover the different social ideologies behind the news. This study tends to show that different ideologies have a big influence on social and international in news texts. And we conclude that there is close relationship between news and ideology, and in a broad sense, rhetoric does reflect ideologies of people from different cultures and political background. . |
