On the basis of existing studies on the impacts of ideology on English News translation, combined with the author’s translation practice, this thesis aims to discuss what kind of translation strategies translators can employ. Along with the increasing intercultural communication, the task of Chinese translators is of ever more importance, as well as the complexity and difficulty. First of all, translators should be adept in choosing a proper stand, viewpoint and means to analyze and understand the original text; secondly, they should possess a sense of political and professional responsibility, because a little mistake may bring adverse effects. It is very important for them to be familiar with the cultural differences between English and Chinese. This thesis selects ideology as its perspective. Firstly, it explains the language features of English news, such as a strong logic, employment of big words and new words, uses of passive voice and a political orientation. Secondly, it focuses on ideology, including its definition and influence it has on English news. For example, intentionally or unintentionally, English News carries the mainstream values of English-speaking countries or political standpoints of the publishing houses or reporters. Then, it discusses the translation methods on the basis of the effect of ideology, such as reorganization, deletion, amplification, replacement. Finally, it draws a conclusion:English news is affected by ideology more or less during its writing process; therefore translators should take this factor into consideration and employ proper methods to translate, so as to promote a harmonious development of multi-cultures.
