Social self and academic self are the basilic parts of individual self-concept,and the shame plays important role in the development of high school students.The study of them and their relationship,reflecting the deep study trend of self-concept,is the objective need of adolescents' mental health development and the urgent need of the indigenous study.This research explored 342 junior or senior high school students by using Social Self Questionaire for Adolescents,Adolescent General Academic Self Scale,General Disciplinary Self Scale and the Middle School Students' Shame measurement Scale,and by means of technology of variance analysis and regression analysis.The investigation drew the following conclusions:1.There is significant sex,grad and educational stage difference in the development of high school sutudents' social self.On the whole,female students are with higher social self than male students.Senior high school students have a higher level than junior high school students.The grade 2 of junior high school has the lowest level of social self.2.Differences of general academic self exist outstandingly among those who are from different grades.The development of high school students' general academic self,generally is not significant in the difference of sex and educational stages,while significant in the difference of specific dimension:in the dimension of academic experience,girls are far better than boys;in the dimension of academic achievement,senior high school students are much better than junior high school students.3.There is significant sex,grad and educational stage difference in the development of high school sutudents' general disciplinary self.On the whole,female students are significant better than male students;In the dimension of scientific academic self,boys are better than girls,while in terms of liberal and artistic academic self,girls are better than boys.4.The age and grade differences exist in the development of adolescents' shame,and there is no differences between boys and girls in all the facets of shame.And,in the dimension of the shame of behavior,senior high school students have intenser experiences than junior high school students;the students of grade 1 of junior high school have the least shame experiences.5.Junior and senior high school students' social self,general academic self have significant negative correlation with shame.Both social self and general academic self can predict the level of adolescents' shame,and social self has larger predictive power.
