General Feng Yuxiang The Taishan Education Activities Study

General Feng Yu-xiang ever lived in seclusion at the foot of Mount Tai in 1932 and 1935. During this period, what he did was working hard to search for the road to saving the nation, giving wide publicity to the movement to resist Japanese aggression, supervising and building Dazhong Bridge. He also subsidized orphanages, introduced fruit trees, initiated science and waterpower. While he was resisting Jiang Jie-shi and the Japanese aggression, he tried his best to get found to run several Wuxun primary schools and to work for charities.Based on the action research method from the aspect of sociology, this thesis studies general Feng's educational practice of action. The thesis has five parts: the first part, whose research methods are investigation, visit and documentary material, describes general Feng's educational practice and experience, for example the number of the students, the survey of the schoolhouse and makes correction of the historical record. The second part expounds the reasons for Feng Yu-xiang to run schools. It begins from his experience to the analysis of the status quo. The third part describes in detail Feng Yu-xiang's educational activities. The fourth part analyses the human background and social background of general Feng Yu-xiang and the practical significance of what he had done. The fifth part reexamines his practical activity from the aspect of history and reality. With the limitation of the historical condition, he couldn't solve both the political and national problems, his education at that time was limited, but his thought was significant.This thesis will not only enrich the study on general Feng Yu-xiang but also widen the research sphere. From the reanalysis of his practical activity and its practical significance, we can understand better the influence of one's age on oneself, it can still be important to study the educational development and educational history in Tai'an.
