Since the appearance of Humanism in 1970s, the traditional authorized classroom teaching method, in which teachers are the center of learning, has been replaced by the teaching methods in which students are the center of learning. Accordingly, all kinds of English teaching theories and methods have come up, in which students are the center of learning. Different kinds of teaching methods emphasize on satisfying the needs and interests of different students with different teaching methods. These teaching theories and methods not only have had great impact on China's college English teaching, but also have improved it. But how to make full use of students'multiple-intelligence, how to improve the English teaching effect and learning effect is an urgent problem to be solved.Based on the teaching ideas of Humanist and of Multiple Intelligences (MI), created by American college psychologist Howard.Gardner, the thesis first introduces the meaning and structure of MI theory, analysizes the main problems of college English teaching, states MI theory's guiding function for college English teaching, analysizes the guiding principles, discusses the strategies and methods of applying MI theory into college English teaching. The whole thesis includes four parts:Part one introduces the meaning and the structure of MI theory. Its entirety, scene, development, multiplicity and opening are identical with the aim of college English teaching.Part two tells the main problems of college English teaching and analysizes the causes.Part three is the body of this thesis. The author first analysizes the characters of college English teaching, then states the necessity, feasibility advantages of MI theory's guiding for college English teaching. The principles of Humanist, teaching the students according to their aptitudes, coordinated development and multiple-dimensional evaluation are not only the application of MI theory, but also the principles of college English teaching. Combing with MI theory, the author lists several English teaching methods for teachers to use to satisfy different needs of different students. At last it discusses the strategies and methods of applying MI theory into college English teaching in order to achieve the best learning effect by cultivating students'multiply-intelligence.
