Taiwan issue has great influence on the Sino-Japanese relations. It is necessary for us to accurately catch the Japanese official position upon Taiwan issue before we set up the practical policy towards Japan. Centering on Taiwan issue, the paper takes a review of Japanese policy towards China after the Second World War. The conclusion of the paper is that Japanese position towards Taiwan issue after the Second World War has changed from"one-China"to"two-Chinas", and then returned to"one-China".Early days after the Second World War, Japanese government surrendered unconditionally. And accept Potsdam Proclamation with formal return of Taiwan which had been invaded and occupied for about half a century to China. At the time, Japanese government admitted Taiwan belonged to China and there was only one China in the world. Then, from Yoshida Shigeru cabinet period to Eissaku Sato cabinet period, Japanese government always hold the idea of"two -Chinas". According to the different characteristics during the time, it can also divide into three parts. Yoshida Shigeru cabinet period was the formative period of"two-Chinas"idea from Japanese government. From Ichiro Hatoyama cabinet period to the prophase of Eissaku Sato cabinet period was the stable phase of"two-Chinas"idea from Japanese government. And the anaphase of Eissaku Sato cabinet period was the flexible period of"two-Chinas"idea from Japanese government. When it came to Kakuei Tanaka cabinet period, Japanese government agreed on the three principles of reestablishing diplomatic relations proposed by China. Japan affirmed position of"one-China", and relations between China and Japan finally were normalized.As a special study, the paper was arranged in time order and confirmed by historical materials. Formation, change and development of position towards Taiwan issue of all Japanese cabinets after the Second World War can be considered as a part of the whole Japanese policy towards China before relations between China and Japan were normalized. The paper was focused on an overall and deep study combining the parts and the whole.The paper expresses the author's opinion upon the subject of Japanese position towards Taiwan issue after the Second World War. This can help people to make a clear and accurate orientation of Japanese attitude towards Taiwan issue in the 21st century and also the future trend of Japanese policy towards China.
