Famous Chinese national musicologist Chen Ziming devoted himself to spread the theory of global music collection in recent thirty years, which means doing a lot of research on many nations'music originally and locally so as to obtain much valuable first-hand material. So far, he has published three books and hundreds of thesis and papers on it. He set up this course of global music initially in some musical conservatories, and many professional personnel are getting qualified. Furthermore, he gave many lectures on global music in many colleges and enterprises in order to popularize the global music and the pluralistic cultural value. He did also spread the global music to the public via some modern media such as TV and internet. As a pioneer in this field in China, Chen Ziming did a great contribution to the theoretical research and the spreading of the global music. In this dissertation, Chen's musical level, his academic research and his social activities are researched on a background of the development of the global music. The purpose of the dissertation is to give an objective comment to the contribution Chen Ziming did in this field.
