Earthquake has different effects on high school students who have different kinds of temperament types on physical and psychological sides. The present study conducts a questionnaire on 475 high school students from Qingchuan county, Guangyuan city, Sichuan province employing EPQ and the self-rating scale of post-traumatic stress disorder as well as interviews. It discusses the relation between temperament types and the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder in order to provide some corresponding strategies for different students of different temperament types when psychological intervention is used in the earthquake area.The following are the study's conclusions:Firstly, it is serious for high school students to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder in the earthquake area, which focuses mainly on three dimensions: repeated recurrent experience, avoidance symptoms and the enhancement of alert.Secondly, in general, high school students suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder have clear differences in sex and age in the earthquake area. Moreover, girls have more serious symptoms than boys. Students at Grade 3 in high school are more serious than grade 1 and grade 2. Thirdly, it can be drawn from various dimensions: at the dimension of subjectivity assess, there are not clear differences in sex and age of high school students in the earthquake area;at the dimension of repeated recurrent experience and enhancement of alert, it is not obviously different in grades but in sex. Girls have more serious symptom than boys; at the dimension of avoidance symptoms; there are clear differences in grades and sex. Girls have more serious symptom than boys. Students at Grade 3 in high school are more serious than grade 1 and grade 2 in the earthquake area;at the dimension of social function damage, there are not clear differences in sex but grades. The social function damage of students at Grade 3 in high school is more serious than grade 1 and grade 2 in the earthquake area.Fourthly, there are clear differences between high school students of different temperament types suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder in the earthquake area. Specifically, at the dimension of mentation, there are not clear differences for high school students in post-traumatic stress disorder. However, at the dimension of internal and external tendency and neuroticism, the symptom of high school students of internal tendency is more serious than external tendency. The symptom of high school students of typical high characteristics of neuroticism is more serious than low characteristics in the earthquake area.Finally, the earthquake brings different spirit hurts to high school students of different temperament types. It has far worse effect on their life than their study. In addition, different students have different senses. The students of typical internal tendency and high characteristics of neuroticism have negative sense more easily. However, the students of external tendency and low characteristics of neuroticism have positive sense more easily.
