Taking history as a mirror means providing services for the reality by summarizing experience and lessons from the past. Before Qing dynasty, the thoughts of learning from history seemed very popular among the Confucian and Mohist schools. This thesis is planning to discuss the thoughts of such kind, taking the relative thoughts of the Confucian and Mohist schools as an example.The part of introduction analyzes the research conditions, the innovations and the research significance of this thesis. The first three chapters mainly talk about the relative thoughts of Ccuonfucius, Mencius and Xunzi. The fourth chapter discusses the relative thoughts of the Mo-tse. The last chapter is a conclusion where the formation, motivation and purpose of the academic foundation, the differences of the thoughts between the the Confucian and Mohist schools including the causes and the value of this kind of thoughts are involved.
