Bearing The Word "outside" Comprehensive Survey And Cognitive Analysis

Based on the fruit of the previous research,this paper probes into a orientation word "wai" from all angles.It has a detailed description and analysis of the research focused on its reference system,position relations,syntax distribution,significant defelopment and position relations and tries to give them a cognitive explaination.The reference system of "wai" concerns three dimentional object,two-dimentional object and one-dimentional object,each of which can act alone as a reference or on behalf of the reference it subordinates to.As a basic spatial relation,"wai",along with "li",comes from the direct physical contact of human beings and later became an important tool of cognition. "li-wai" spatial relation based on one of the basic Image Schema——container schema.By metaphor mapping, "wai" develops its significant from the concrete domain to the abstract domain.This paper also explores the syntax distribution of this orientation word and analysises how those usage come into being.Finally,we describes in detail the imbalance of "wai" and "li" and tries to anylysis it from the physiological basics,psychological foundation, cultural background and cognitive perspective.
