Marguerite Marie-Charlotte Long, was a famous modern female French pianist, educator and social activist, a inheritor and promoter of French music, one of the founders of teaching and playing methodology of the modern French piano music. Her performance kept the style of the classical French piano music playing. Long made a great contribution for the developing of French piano education and she also promoted French composers works to the worldwide. She was a very important person in the history of modern French music.In early of 20 Century, Long take the most of her energy into on her daily playing. The essence of Faure, Debussy, Ravel and other famous French Impressionist composers' works had been return, which was with her excellent performance. After WWII, She focused on Piano Education, and cooperated with Jack Thibaud, who was the most famous French violist, they founded a world-class music event -Marguerite Long and Jack Thibaud Piano and Violin Competition, and it was the same weight of the well-known Chopin International Piano Competition in the music world. It pushed French piano music moving forward. In her "Le Piano, 1959", it focus on young pianist finger skills training in this book, it is a good guide for the learner to study piano, this idea made a significant impact on the modern piano education and teaching worldwide. French people call her "Mother of French Pianist".
