Genius In The Juvenile Division Of A Model

Leopold Godowsky, a pianist and educator, was born in Americal Lithuania in 1870, and died in 1938. He has made great contributions to the pedagogue, piano techniques and music composition. Godowsky is the first to propose the theory "playing with the left hand", paving a new path to piano playing. But, not so many scholars have made deeper and systemetic research on him by now. Therefore, Godowsky is still like a mysterious veil to the piano field in China.This thesis gives a brief introduction on Godowsky's life and art firstly; secondly makes an analysis on his playing and teaching theory to reveal this talent's thoughts; at last, through the remarks of his students about him, this thesis reveals his immortal position in the piano teaching field. Thus he is worthy of the title "pianist among the pianists".The author hopes that more scholars in this field can know more about godowsky through his pianist theory and teaching methods, and can realize that his playing and teaching theory play more important and realistic role in the development of piano playing in the world.
