Icon Icon Overall Design Concept Of The Study

As two kinds of presentation figure sign, pictogram and icon play a role of pointing, guiding, warning and highlighting in the urban traffic, urban construction, and urban network and so on. As the concept of pictogram and icon was rather unclear in China at present, the author provides a detailed concept of pictogram and icon, and also the process of their generation and process of their development. After consulting the related materials and do some Field Research, the author finds that some improvements are needed in the systematic design and implement of pictogram and icon. Therefore, the author investigates them in the field of their systematic design and their implements in environment firstly. Various methods are used to understand the problems in design of pictogram and icon, and also the influences of differences in physiology, psychology and local culture of designer and user. Then, on the basis of knowing about the environment design and construction design, the author discusses the relationship between the design of pictogram and icon and environment in the view of systemic design. At last, audacious and reasonable conceives are brought up. The systematic design which the author emphasizes is a whole composed by pictogram and icon themselves and the environment they are in. That means, in designing pictogram and icon, both the influences of small and big environment should be took into account, and also in designing the space, the existing form and showing of future pictogram and icon should be thought over.The author proposes to exert abstract graph and image graph aggressively and reasonably in the design of pictogram and icon. The understanding of this metaphor relies on personal feeling. When pictogram and icon are needed to spread and exchange in different cultural systems, the culture information of them should not be an obstacle in understanding and acceptance. These elements such as graph language should possess the quality of international recognization, which can achieve understanding and communication authentically.Pay attention to people's expression of emotion and communication is the main tendency of designing as emotion has particular carrier and means of expression in different countries and nations. It is a collection and sediment of a country's abundant and profound life experience in a long time, and therefore a universal recognization. In addition to these, the design of pictogram and icon will be limited in the two interfacial expressions with the development of technology and blending in the field of designing, but also emerge in the three or even four interfacial field abundantly.
