“Pictogram applications in the regional tourism product” is the theme of this essay. It aims toanalyze the feature and development of pictogram and its form of expression in the design oftourism product. With the improvement of living standards, the tourism industry has become thenew industry. At the same time, the high speed developing of technology makes pictogram becomeone important method to receiving information. Based on those two backgrounds, this essay aims tostudy how to use pictogram to promote the value of tourism product. The writer advocates usingpictogram which has traditional Chinese culture element in the design of tourism product. Usingpictogram’s graphic imagery to convey a wealth of information and content, to increase the culturevalue of tourism product and satisfied the need of people’s rhythm of life. To explore the potentialnational culture value of pictogram’s design application.This essay analyzed from following aspects:First, the development of Chinese character and developing feature of pictogram. It aims toanalyze the different stage of pictogram and its applications in product design. It is the backgroundintroduction of the whole article.Secondly, the pictogram’s expression form in product design and the actual significance ofpictogram’s application in the tourism product design. This part is not only the study of culturalvalue in the product design but also pictogram’s form of expression in the product design application.it aims to help people to understand the how important role that Chinese pictogram culture hasplayed in tourism product design and its future direction.In the last part, by analyze successful cases to understand the details of pictogram’s tourismproduct design application at the modern time, in the light of Chu culture to further analyze theregional tourism product design application and expression form of pictogram. This part aims toreview the traditional culture in the design application, as well as to give expectations and outlookon the future of regional tourism product development.By the above research, writer trying to clarify the necessity of using Chinese traditional elementinto tourism product design that through analyze the traditional philosophic thinking, the ideologiesand concepts of people, the traditional graphic and letter symbol. To unify the pictogram’s designapplication both cultural value and expression feature, further disseminate Chinese culture andenhance the national product image, cater for the development of times.
