the purpose of this thesis is to put investigation of the woodcut engraving under the historical background, which excludes the pre-set and unidirectional thinking mode of woodcut engraving and Han Stone。This paper will explore the woodcut Engraving and analyze the process and related historical fields from three aspects of art language, human and society in image to merge the two from personal perspective and historical perspective. As or the purpose of research, this paper is not just trying to gain a clear idea of the artistic language characteristics and the language pattern of Engraving and will avoid giving an essential definition of Engraving. Instead, this paper will view the woodcut Engraving and Han Stone through an open-minded way and relates the two to the historical fields to clarify the recognition difference of the art form in different historical periods and in which historical context does the recognition come into being。This paper also aims at finding out the inner relation of the two, thereby it can reflect the present era background, refer to the history and explore the new connection between the Engraving and human existence and figure out the meaning of contemporary Engraving to woodcut engraving.
