All kinds of lion sculpts have been full of all aspects of life since the lion was brought into China. Stone grave door appeared in the time of Emperor of Han wu. With the development of grave institution and the reinforcement of the idear——treat death liking live, the grave door was nicer and nicer. Between the time of the Northern Dynasies and the Sui-Tang Dynasties, Some grave door's anvils were engraved like lions, which occupied a certain proportion of graves in this time. These door's anvils lions distributed in the middle and lower reaches of Yellow River, and have formed a certain space feature. In this paper, applying the theory of archaeology typology, I divide these door's anvils lions into three kinds in line with their shapes. In the same time, according to the space feature, I divide these door's anvils lions into Guan zhong and Guan dong the two space, which coincides with the territory of the Eastern Wei Dynasty-the Northern Qi Dynasty and Western Wei Dynasty-the Northern Zhou Dynasty. On the basis of literature and archaeology datas, I elaborate the lion's source and cource, then I hold the idea that in this time, the shape of grave door's anvil likes tiger first, then like-s lion with the spread of buddhism from India to China, and evolved into lines etshing lion or other patterns in the first step of Tang Dynasty. I also hold the idea that the molding of squat lion is the typical molding in buddhism art, and this molding has had an important influence in that of Chinese door's anvil lion. In addition, I think the appearence of grave door's anvil lions in sogdians graves are the result of Chinese.
