The development of public art in Taiwan, It's been more than a decade since the issue of "Regulations on the Awards for Art and Culture" in Taiwan. After several amendments, the act has been gradually perfected to better incorporate public art into public life and to play a positive role in social development. This dissertation first looks back at the origin of public art, and presents a general history of development of public art in Taiwan. It then classifies and analyses the effect the several amendments of the act have on public art and describes representative cases of public art in Taiwan. Finally it presents thoughts and reflections upon the research of public art in Taiwan.Taiwan's experience in developing public art could pose a valuable lesson to its mainland counterpart. However, out of various political concerns, its history and lessons have never been fully presented in the mainland. To research the issue, the author collects a large body of information through various channels. Through investigation, classification and analysis, the author seeks to compose the dissertation at its fullest accuracy. It is the author's sincere hope that the research and analysis on Taiwan's public art can help promote public art in China, especially to contribute to the implementation of public art laws and regulations in China in the near future.
