Leonid Nikolayevich Andreev (1871-1919) is one of the most important realism writers at the silver age in Russian literature. Throughout Andreev's nearly 30 years creative process, he learned the merit from every school, which were all embodied and reflected in his works, for instance, symbolism, impressionism, etc. Particularly, the Expressionism revealed from his works has a strong appeal to the readers and critics. Andreev merged the creative features of Expressionism, detailed characteristics, in-depth analyzed people's inner world, showed human alienation mainly. This article will cut into from writing style of Expressionism, and focus on mining overall qualities of Andreev's characters, and approach to the Andreev's "alternative" writing style comprehensively, by grasping Expressionism tendencies of Andreev's works, exploring the human alienation, new understanding of death.
