As a new literary type which derives from Chinese knight-errant culture and new knight-errant literature, Chinese new martial arts film has surpassed its ancestors in terms of style, content, and influence, and has become an important medium representing Chinese culture on the world culture arena. New martial arts film makers and their works are imperceptibly transmitting the brilliant Chinese traditional cultures, with a more receptive style and a core of Chinese philosophy and wisdom, to the world. It reveals an outstanding contribution for the spreading of Chinese culture.This article clarifies the development of Chinese new knight-errant literature and new martial arts film, systematically introduces the development of Chinese new martial arts film in America, as well as its influence. It also presents the current literary acceptance of Chinese new martial arts film in the States and theoretically accounts for the reasons for the aforesaid phenomenon.
