Tang Dynasty was a great time for poetry development and was also a flourishing time of sport industry as well. There were many poems describing sport in that time, not only describing the sport events of the ruling class but also reflecting the fork sport games. All those poems revealed the grand scene of all kinds of sports flourishing in Tang Dynasty from all aspects. The kinds of sport games illustrated and the richness of contents that included in the poems was unprecedented. Literature is the reflection of social life. That's why the huge number of the poems on sport in Tang Dynasty was closely connected to the booming of the sport industry of that time.The manifestation of the booming of Tang Dynasty's sport industry was not only that sports themselves were greatly improved and innovated based on previous development but also that sports activities were spread to every class of society, especially that the women's sports were thriving. All of these factors pushed Tang Dynasty's sport to its peak.Sport was a very important social life sector in Tang Dynasty, and it was preserved and passed down to the generations to come in the form of actual poetry. Later generations can get to know the social sport development of that time via reading these literature works. Since the sports development provided poets and men of letter abundant materials, contents and subjects for their creations, we can understand the development of sport of that time via the description in literature works.First of all, after reading a lot of documents, classic poetry works and books the author has sorted out and categorized the poems on sport of Tang Dynasty. Those poems reflected the developing status of Tang Dynasty's sports and included all aspects of sport, such as the wide range number of people participated, the numerous kinds of different events and the love and stress people of all classes lay on sport and so on.Literature is the reflection of reality. Literature of one time reflects the social image of that time to a certain degree. In the second part of this paper the author will draw examples of sport description in poetry on spots, analyze the developing stages of the sport at that time and the way poets used to demonstrate the booming of Tang Dynasty's sport industry, and try to get a view of the flourishing sport industry of Tang Dynasty through the study of poems on sport of Tang Dynasty. It was because the flourishing of sports provided abundant subjects for literature creation that there immerged so many poems on sports. In turn, those poems provide us the best materials to understand sport at that time. Reading those poems, we can see the actual detailed record of sport events at that tine and the excellent performances and skills of players and the praise for its booming.In the third part of this paper the reasons for the immerging of poems of sport themes in Tang Dynasty were analyzed, as well as the reason of the booming of sport itself. Tang Dynasty was a time when China's feudal society developed to its peak time and the rulers adapted enlighten and liberal policies. It was a time when politics was fair and clear, economic development was advancing and great improvement had been achieved in culture and social life and so on. The whole society was uprising and flourishing. It was under this kind of circumstance that ancient sport reached its peak time. The development of sport enriched the creation subjects for poetry, and left plenty poetry describing sports for later generations at the same time. Those poems provide authentic and credible material for study the booming of sport in Tang Dynast.
