Hume's rules of Justice is an important constituent of his Theory of Justice, and also an important part of his Moral and Political Philosophy, through which could be better known by us. Hume regards these three rules of Justice as the law of Nature, on the base of the criticism of the law of Nature in tradition that constitutes his "artificial" theory of Justice by the way of naturalism. This text is concerned about one of these three rules of Justice, the performance of promise, which will be concerned as main clue, for the sake of searching for the significance and influence of the theory of justice according to Humean promise and its problem. Hume compares the notion of "natural" with that of "artificial" and gives a different illustration, which lays the groundwork for us being able to hackle the problem of promise in the framework of theory of justice carefully. Therefore the demonstration of the performance of promise as an artificial virtue can provide a better path of further discussion of the argument of justice as an artificial virtue.
