Within The Xi'an Dialect Phonological Differences In Study

Xi'an lies in the central part of Guanzhong plain. In different regions of Xi'an, there are obvious differences in phonetics. Based on investigation and study, this paper compared the differences between the initials and finals in different regions of Xi'an, and analysed the evolution rules of initials and finals in Xi'an dialect.This paper is composed of 3 parts:In the first part, the author gives a brief introduction of the geography, population, history of Xi'an as well as the previous and present studies of Xi'an dialect. The dialect belongs to east part of Guanzhong branch within official language of central plains.The second part is about the inner differences of initials in Xi'an dialect. By investigating speech sounds in different regions of Xi'an, the author discusses phonetic differences of ancient bilabials following with vowel "u" or "o", split apical following with vowel "i", split-fricative apical and fricative apical following with "i", initials of ancient retroflex in "close-mouth" syllables and Dang-kai-san(宕开三)category and Jiang-kai-er(江开二)category. By comparison, the author tries to find out and induce the development rules of initials in Xi'an dialect.The third part focuses on inner differences of finals in Xi'an dialect. Through investigation, the author discusses the phonetic differences of "mu" rhyme in shushengi(�'声)tone and rhymes of "wu","mo","wo" in rushing(入声)tone; the differences of prior nasal tails(前鼻音韵尾)；the differences in rhymes of ancient retroflex in "close-mouth" syllables and Dang-kai-san(宕开三)category and Jiang-kai-er(江开二)category. By comparison, the author tries to discover the development rule of finals in Xi'an dialect.
