The Emperor's Old School Thinking Research

The Tang dynasty is a representative period in chinese history, it reached the pinnacle of Chinese feudal society, but then immediately fall into recession. Emperor Li Longji is an important and unique emperor, his reputation mixed with great honor and disgrace in one. Early in his period, he governed well, implementation of Taoism ideology, creating a well-known period in Chinese history, named "Kaiyuan Prosperity". late in his ruling, he indulged in immortal side surgery, pursuit longevity, governing the country on the lazy way, appointment negative officials as premier, indulging himself in wine and women, eventually led to the Rebellion, led a powerful Tang dynasty to decline. However, Li Longji is famous in Chinese history because of his advocating taoism ideology, he not only rule on specific policy attention to improving the principles of Taoism, and study or research Taoist classics scripts himself. He personally led the Commentaries, or directed it in the interpretation affairs, and apply it to the Politics of the country and rulled the people as the guiding ideology. This paper tries to analyze lilongji's script on taoism, to examine emperors how to use a classic to built their thinking system with the classic philosophy, and how to apply this philosophy or ideology in the governance and the rule of the people in ideas and specific policies. Combined with the historical facts of the later, we will comment on the theory briefly.This paper introduces the background of lilongji's script on Laozi, including the historical background, ideological and cultural background, religious policy background, and try to display the purpose of the emperor's interpretation. Second, the brief statement discussing the script's versional study, involving some of the problem, that is, whether Emperor himself written it; another problem is the publishment of the works on age and the versions circulating. Third, to the word's explanatory philosophy implied in the moral principles to do some sort, and summarize the contents, visit the main content of their philosophy and important concept. Fourth, summarize some of the ideological and theoretical characteristics of the works, such as Confucianism planted in ,the Buddhsim ideals planted in , on the use of such double Metaphysics,in chinese called "chongxuan", and then on the Commentary by the thought and the theoretical characteristics of the Tang Dynasty taoism ideas to a comparative study to remark the historical statement of the thinking, theoretical contributions has been made, its academic status. Finally, the conclusion of this thesis, including of the experience I have got through the study and the basic summarized.
