The Notes on Hearsays, which was written by Zhao lin, is a note fiction o(?) Late Tang Dynasty. It shows a lot of things about the period from Emperor Xuanzong tc Emperor Xuanzong on history, politics, law, literature, linguistics, religion, anecdote, and so on Although Zhao's work is valuable, we can detect mistakes during the carefully reading. Some of them could be ascribe to the author himself, and the others because of the careless block printing and the long-term circulation of editions. The research about that is still been neglected now. So this paper will spent great effort on textual criticism. On this basis, it takes 8 chapters to focus on several aspects, like Zhao's life experience, catalog category, edition study, emendation and collation on words, the source of the historical material, value estimate, etc. in order to help the following researcher could make the best use of the classical work.
