Chang Wen Yeah is a special musician in Chinese modern musical history. He suffered many mishaps in his life, and his life reflected three pairs of complicated relationship, namely, Chinese and Japanese relationship, Taiwan and Japanese relationship and Taiwan and China Mainland relationship. In pursuit of"recognition", he chosen music as his spiritual residence, and expressed his pursuit for ideal and aspiration for homes. He made great achievements in creation. In his difficult life, he created over 100 pieces of works involving various fields such as orchestral music, piano music and chamber music. Meanwhile, he created a great many literal works and wrote musical dissertations and poems. Thus he is a diligent and productive composer, musician and poet.Study of Confucius Music is an important piece of work made by Chang Wen Yeah about his understanding of Confucius music thoughts as well as a piece of work about Chinese ancient elegant music and sacrificial music made before he wrote Confucius Temple Dasheng Movement. Such two pieces of works were created when Chang Wen Yeah first arrived in Beijing. In such a stage, his life and thoughts transformed. By reading his literal works, this article makes great efforts to reproduce Chang Wen Yeah's cognition of and attitude towards Confucian music. Through clarification of Chang Wen Yeah's representation in Study of Confucius Music and analysis of relationship, similarity and difference between Confucianism and thoughts reflected in works of Chang Wen Yeah, this article reflects the spiritual world of Chang Wen Yeah. Through analysis of music works, this article looks for representation of Chinese traditional styles and Confucianism in his works, and improves Chang Wen Yeah's cognition of Confucian musical aesthetics. Through Japanese, Chinese Mainland, Taiwan musical elements, this article analyzes his transformation of musical concepts, and uncovers influence of life changes on his thoughts.This article is intended to help the academic circle to pay attention to musical aesthetic thoughts of composers and identify status of Chang Wen Yeah, a special figure in the history of Chinese musical aesthetic development through reading and analysis of literal and musical works of Chang Wen Yeah.
