Study Of Contemporary Chinese Painting Animal Genre Creation

In recent years, the contemporary Chinese oil painting has been playing a more and more important role. The trend of contemporary Chinese oil painting and the very style of it are the vane of contemporary social and cultural development. Particularly, the field of oil painting has won much more attention from China and the rest of the world. People often study contemporary Chinese art and culture by the oil painting. In this background, I find that in creating contemporary oil paintings, some artists show special preference to animal images.Through my own study and practices, I listed many art works from primitive society to modern society which reflects animal images; then, I summarized the function and meaning of art works with animal images in Chinese painting history; after this, I made a further discussion on contemporary art and oil painting. All the steps were taken from a special aesthetic perspective. As a result, I put these animal images into four categories according to the way images are presented and the connotation of the animal images: the first category, animal images are socially critical; the second category, animal images are contemporarily entertaining; the third category, animal images show the real look of all the animals; the fourth category, animal images show the living fate in the new era. .I have found that animal images in contemporary oil paintings contain special aesthetic value and cultural meanings through the comparison and analysis among different artists and their art works. Moreover, animal images in art works of different styles and contents carry different aesthetic purposes and social meanings.
